The University of Le Havre was created in 1984. Nowadays it welcomes 7 300 students. It is composed of 3 unities of training and research –Sciences and Technology, International Affairs, Arts and Humanities -, an Institute of Technology and an engineer school in logistics, called ISEL.
Balanced undergraduated and graduated programmes
Teaching programmes are articulated around 4 fields : law, economics, management; sciences, technologies, health; social sciences; arts, literature, languages. Planned to prepare as best as possible, the students’ insertion and to improve their mobility, the University has been built around three big orientation strategies : professionalization, a gateway to the international, and multi-disciplinarity.
A renowned scientific expertise
The scientific potential of the university relies on the 11 research laboratories. 2 of those 11 laboratories are associated to the CNRS and are articulated around 4 poles of research : social sciences; chemistry – biology; mathematics – informatics, sciences for engineers. Research work is also being held around interdisciplinary links. Those research activities improve the teaching thanks to the production of new knowledge.
