Malene Rydahl is Danish but has lived in Paris for over 20 years. She has had a career full of rich and demanding experiences in the private sector for 18 years, 6 of which were with Bang & Olufsen, and 2 for the Ouvriers du paradis agency (WPP group) for Parisian department store Le Bon Marché (LVMH). Her last position, held for the past 9 years, as Director of Corporate Communications for Hyatt Hotels (Europe – Middle East – Africa) has allowed her to be in the “24 women of the year” ranking by l’Express.
Malene Rydahl is now fully dedicated to her new career as a writer, lecturer, and executive coach around the world. Her first book, Happy as a Dane, published by Grasset in April 2014, received the Optimistic Book of the Year Prize. After being a great success in France, it has since then been translated in 12 languages around the world. Her last book “Le bonheur sans illusions”, published in September 2017 with Flammarion, analyzes whether the search of beauty, money, power, celebrity and sex, which are omnipresent today, can make us profoundly happy.
Inspiration for her first book came from her desire to understand what makes Denmark the “happiest country in the world” according to several scientific studies. She wishes to convey this learning process to promote happiness in its personal components and in the professional environment where its economic impact has been proven. In lecture, Malene Rydahl delivers the keys of danish management which have been proven to enhance productivity, creativity and loyalty among employees, in a world where businesses fight for best talent. With her experience, she has spoken for numerous large French and international groups, which she also advises as an executive coach. She has additionally been invited by the Secretary General to speak at the OECD on several occasions, at l’ENA, and was one of the INSEAD’s TEDx speakers in Singapour in late 2015.
In addition to her career, Male Rydahl has expressed strong commitments, notably by joining the consultative committee for the start of Jacques Attali’s Positive Economy Forum under the high patronage of the President of the French Republic. She is also an associate of 42° Rax, a Danish startup managing three restaurants focused on vegan and healthy living in Copenhagen. She finally supports the Europe Tomorrow initiative led by three young French entrepreneurs who map local environmental initiatives across Europe.
Malene Rydahl holds a degree from the Niels Brock Business School in Copenhagen. In 2014, she was named Copenhagen’s Goodwill Ambassador.
