Managing Director, Ares

BACKGROUND / Academic and professional background :

While studying in the French top management school ESCP, Thibaut Guilluy gets involved in social entrepreneurship projects. After founding two non-profit organisations, he becomes Ares’ CEO in 2005.

ACHIEVEMENT/ What is the project/initiative/startup/company you will be presenting at the Positive Economy Forum all about ?

Through its 10 social enterprises, Ares’ goal is to achieve professional and social integration for long-term unemployed people, through a system tailored to fit their needs. Every year, more than 500 beneficiaries excluded from the work market and socially marginalized are offered a suitable job, training and social and professional support to prepare them for a new start in society.  Since its foundation, Ares’ insertion project has been centered on three guidelines:

-Work as main integration medium: nobody is unemployable and everyone, once supported, can build on his or her skills, strengths and talents to participate in society as full-fledged citizens and contribute to the economic life.

-Co-construction with companies: Ares’ mission of sustainable integration cannot be achieved without a strong partnership with the business world.

-Social innovation at the heart of our strategy : social and economic innovation are essential to Ares’ project, whether for the social and professional support of vulnerable people’s employment to be more efficient, or to co-build more efficient integration models with the businesses.

LOCATION / In which city, country, part of the world do you conduct your activities ?

Ares’ projects are located in France, mainly in the Paris’ region. We work on supporting their duplication to help greater numbers of vulnerable people elsewhere in France or abroad.

IMPACT / What is the positive economic, social, political, environmental…of the activity, project, initiative, startup, company ?

Ares strives against exclusion and supports its beneficiaries so that their diversity, strengths and talents can enrich society. In 2015, more than 65% of our beneficiaries stepped out of Ares with a job or to start a graduating training.

Ares urges companies to get involved in promoting social and economic inclusion, and accompanies them in their concrete actions that can make their CSR politics concrete and thus create social and economic value : job creation, joint-ventures, implementation of programs to involve their employees …

Ares aims at changing the attitudes, the practices, the companies and the institutional framework. Fostering those trends implies creating new models to address the major social issues our society faces, and building them on meaningful activities. Sharing and facilitating the innovative models we create lies at the heart of Ares innovation policy, whether it is amongst non-profit organizations or companies. The ultimate goal: maximizing our impact.

QUOTE/ A saying, quote or reference phrase that tells something about you :

The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.” – Albert Einstein
